Shawn Alexander, a 2016 Valley Center High School graduate, was named to the president's list and the dean's list for the fall semester at Oklahoma State University. Alexander is in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.

Sedgwick County Extension will host Community Family Board Game Night Event from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 27 at the extension office, 21st and Ridge.

The come-go-event is free.

K-State Research & Extension in Sedgwick County is opening the doors to the community to participate in our Community Family Board Game Night, Bonding Thru Board Games. This is a K-State Research & Extension research-based program to strengthen families' relationships.

Newman University officials announced the students on the Dean's List for the fall semester of 2016. To qualify for this achievement, a student must complete 12 credit hours and have attained a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Several students from the area are on the list.

From Bel Aire are Manisethika Sotha, Miquel Swann and Christine Wolf.

From Kechi is Christina Scherer.

From Park City are Krista Howard and Savanna Outley.

From Valley Center are Jace Allen, Joanne Fluker, Korrie Raney and Julianna Soto.
