Highlights Last Updated: December 01, 2016 Evan Balthazor was a member of the KSU team that competed at the National AIChE Conference ChemE Car competition Nov. 19 in San Francisco. Their car, aptly named Bill Snyder, won "Best Inherent Safety Design" against universities from all over the U.S. and international teams. The team qualified for the national competition by placing first in their regional competition in April 2016 at Kansas State University, competing against other universities in the Midwest. Balthazor is a sophomore majoring in chemical engineering at KSU and is the son of Bart and Jean Balthazor, Valley Center, ††† Bel Aire resident Rachel Lawton is a cast member of Ballet Wichita's production of the "Nutcracker Ballet." Performances will be 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at Century II Concert Hall. Tickets are on sale through the Century II box office or Wichitatix.com. ††† Logan Wohlford of Valley Center is part of the Emporia State University production of "The 39 Steps." A senior theater major, Wohlford is on the set and props shift crew. "The 39 Steps" is now showing at 7:30 p.m. through Dec. 3 in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre. Tickets can be reserved at the university box office or by calling (620) 341-6378. ††† Anna Taylor of Valley Center was a featured performer during Kansas Wesleyan University's Jazz Band/Percussion Ensemble Fall Nov. 21. ††† The Wichita Chamber Chorale (WCC) will open its 39th concert season in Wichita with its classic Sounding Joy Christmas Concert. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 E Douglas Ave, and at 3 p.m. Dec. 11 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 202 S. Clifton.
