Driver cited for hit-and-run
By Chris Strunk
Last Updated: June 16, 2016

It was the right place at the right time for Valley Center police Officer Eric Leeker.

Leeker was literally walking his beat around the Valley View Apartments at Colby and Main June 10 when he heard a car horn sounding. Leeker discovered a vehicle with front-end damage near the apartments.

Leeker located the driver, who admitted to drinking and hitting a parked truck near Clay and Dexter.

EMS responded and took the 42-year-old driver, Bryan Straight, to the hospital because of his intoxication level, police said. He was cited on charges of DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and no proof of insurance, and was later released from the hospital.

A passenger, 38-year-old Jennifer Straight, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
