SUSAN SOUDER Last Updated: April 07, 2016 Susan K. Souder, 66, of McPherson, formerly of Valley Center, died April 5, 2016. She was a nursing administrative assistant at McPherson Hospital and a Mary Kay consultant. She was born Dec. 24, 1949, in Wichita to Alvin Lee and Marjorie Louise (Griffin) Brandt. She graduated from Valley Center High School. She married Dr. David E. Souder on Feb. 25, 1967, in Valley Center. She attended New Hope Evangelical Church, volunteered for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and belonged to Beta Sigma Phi. She was preceded in death by parents, husband of 48 years, son Patrick Souder, brother Lee Brandt and sister Ann Nelson. Survivors include children Shannan Souder (Dennis Embrey) of McPherson, Scott Souder of Kansas City, Mo., Aric (Tara) Souder of McPherson, and Kelli (Matt) Jarvis of Moundridge; sister Lynn (Bob) West of Kansas City, Mo.; brother John (Cheryl) Brandt of Wilmington, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. April 10 at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. April 11 at New Hope Evangelical Church in McPherson. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Susan Souder Nursing Scholarship Fund, in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson KS 67460. |
