EDITH BLACK Last Updated: October 01, 2015 Edith E. Black, 70, of Lakehills, Texas, died Sept. 21, 2015. She was a lifelong nurse, starting her career in Wichita and retiring in Del Rio, Texas, in 2011. She was born in Wichita on June 5, 1945, to the late Perry and Estelle Rickard Black. She graduated from Valley Center High School in 1963 and received a nursing degree from the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1975. She married Jerry Black in 1963 and they lived in Valley Center, Del Rio and Lakehills. She was preceded in death by her sister Rosemary Rickard and brother Leonard Rickard. Survivors include husband Jerry Black of San Antonio; sons Jerry (Valerie) Black II of Wilsonville, Ore. and Christopher Kent Black of Lakehills; granddaughters Meredith Black and Kourtney Black of San Antonio; grandsons Stephen Black and Jason Black of Wilsonville; sisters Carol Allen of Victoria, Texas, and Nina Leshley of Augusta; and brother Charles Rickard of Green Valley, Ariz. A celebration of life service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Lakehills Civic Center on Park Road 37 in Lakehills, Texas.
