Meridian, Ford street reconstruction project enters 23rd week By The News staff Last Updated: August 20, 2015 The project to reconstruct Meridian and Ford in Valley Center entered its 23rd week this week. Work focused on Ford (77th North), where crews were burying the underground stormwater drainage system and preparing for a new road from Meridian to near the bridge over the Little Ditch. City Engineer Josh Golka said the contractor is on time to get the roads finished in October. The following is the city's project update this week: Current Status of Construction •Full width of Meridian is open to traffic including intersection and drives. Traffic signals at Main and Meridian are operational. Traffic signage, crosswalk pavement markings, and back of curb fine grading to conclude this week. •Access to businesses along Ramsey is open with access from Meridian. Access to homes and businesses along Ford is open through Dollar General parking lot from Ramsey. Ford is currently closed to through traffic directly east of bridge over floodway to Meridian. Work along Ford scheduled through October. •Pond grading ongoing south of Ford Street working from the south end of the detention pond towards the north. •Concrete construction at pump station ongoing. Concrete outfall structure construction ongoing. •Pavement demolition along Ford ongoing starting at Meridian working eastward. •Storm sewer construction underway starting at outfall into detention pond. Work will continue westward to connect to existing system at Ramsey. •Concrete channel improvements ongoing at Ford and railroad crossing. |
