By The News staff
Last Updated: July 29, 2015

The Valley Center Police Department and Valley Center Christian Church will host a safety seminar from 8:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 15 at the church, 1801 E. Fifth. The seminar is free and is presented by Jimmy Meeks of Sheepdog Seminar.

Meeks, a police officer for 34 years and a church minister for 42 years, will address violence in churches or faith-based properties. The seminar is designed to help churches be prepared for such violence.

The seminar is geared toward pastors, church staff, youth directors, church workers, first responders, teachers and educators.

A movie, "Faith Under Fire," will be shown at 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at the church. Admission is free. An offering will be taken. The public is invited. The movie is about the 1980 shooting at a church in Daingerfield, Texas.
