WALKER BLACKMORE Last Updated: July 15, 2015 Walker Elvin "Blackie" Blackmore, 76, of Yukon, Okla., formerly of Valley Center, died July 7, 2015. He was born May 1, 1939, to Walker and Thelma (Miller) Blackmore in Yates Center. He attended high school in Yates Center and Valley Center. He also attended intermediate banking school at Southern Methodist University. He married Cara Lou Fitzgerald on Dec. 28, 1957, in Valley Center. He served in the Navy from 1957 to 1961. He worked as a branch manager for Bankers Investment Company in Oklahoma. He accepted a position at Yukon National Bank and later became its CEO. He restructured rural banks in Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara, his parents and his other dad Earl Vadnais. Survivors include wife Cara; son Michael (Monna); daughters Christy Simmons (Roy) and Dee Ann Revels; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters Karen (Phil) Drake, Kathy (R.K.) Kelly, Edna Kay and Connie; and brothers Mike Blackmore, Steven Blackmore and Randy Drake. Memorial service was July 11 at Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon. |
