Few coaching changes at high school and middle school
By The News staff
Last Updated: July 02, 2015

This year's coaching staffs at Valley Center High School and Valley Center Middle School will look similar to last year, with a couple of notable changes.

Trent Preheim and Ty Unrau will take the reins of the high school boys' and girls' basketball programs this year.

Supplemental contracts for coaches and other club sponsors were approved by the school board June 29.

Preheim, a longtime coach and teacher in the school district, will be the girls' head coach. He takes over from Daniel Smith, who resigned last year after six seasons.

Unrau, former Douglass High School boys' coach, will be the head coach of the boys' program, taking over from John Wetig, who had four seasons.

There are no other changes among head coaches at the high school for 2015-16.

At the middle school, there will be three head coaching changes this year. Jared Ensey will take over as head coach of the boys' basketball program, Taylor Harrison will be head coach of girls' tennis and Kenny Carter will be head coach of boys' tennis. Ensey was an assistant coach, while Harrison takes over for Chris Edwards, who left the district, and Carter moves up from assistant to cover for Rob Glenn while he is on active military duty.
