ROBERT BROADFOOT

Robert Harry Broadfoot, 88, Newton, died June 6, 2015. He had worked for John Deere and was retired after 27 years from the Boy Scouts of America as district executive of the Quivira Scout Council.

He was born in Moline, Ill., to James Robert Broadfoot and Amelia (Schnell) Broadfoot. He graduated from Moline High School and attended Moline Community College. On July 8, 1945, he married Arlene Grace Johnson in Moline. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving both in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Boy Scouts for 73 years and was Rotary Club president in both Kansas and Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Survivors include his children Gary R. Broadfoot of North Manchester, Ind., Dale I. Broadfoot of Indianapolis and Luan E. Broadfoot of Bel Aire; grandchildren Gary Robert Broadfoot Jr. of Orlando, Fla., Linda Broadfoot and husband Jeff Arvin of Indianapolis, Kyle Broadfoot of Norman, Okla., and Laura Broadfoot of Bel Aire; brother Richard (Lucille) Broadfoot of DeWitt, Iowa, and sister-in-law Claire Johnson of Moline.

Services are 11 a.m. June 15 at First United Methodist Church, 801 N. Main, Newton. Graveside will be 10:30 a.m. July 18 at Greenview Memorial Gardens, 1201 Ave of the Cities, Moline. Baker Funeral Home of Valley Center has charge.
