Keep library on front burner
Last Updated: June 11, 2015

The new updated roadwork will be awesome (we hope) when it is finished, and I am sure many people will enjoy the new golf course.

However, I do not know who is pushing for new sidewalks in the northwest part of the city in neighborhoods where the residents were not even aware of the signed petitions requesting those sidewalks. And why is the library/community building not being discussed? Has the subject been tabled due to more pressing agendas? Are the seniors and the library patrons second-class citizens in this town? Do we not register as a vital part of this community or are our voices not loud enough and do we not generate enough money to be taken seriously?

Perhaps the council should rethink its priorities and refrain from throwing up roadblocks at every turn when the library/community center is discussed. We have been waiting for many years for a larger library and are willing to share this space with the seniors of Valley Center, but we want this project to begin, not just be given lip service with obstructions thrown up at every discussion.

I am asking everyone who is in favor of a new library/community building to please contact your city council person and let them know that it is time to address the situation and act on it. We are truly tired of waiting year in and year out.

Get a move on.
