Three Valley Center High School graduates have received scholarships from Fort Hays State University. David Ortiz, a freshman majoring in accounting, received a William E. Lusk Semester Tuition Scholarship. Morgan McDonald, a fall 2015 freshman majoring in human resource management, received a $2,000 College of Business and Entrepreneurship Achievement Award. Brooke Faulhaber, a fall 2015 freshman majoring in finance, received a $2,000 College of Business and Entrepreneurship Achievement Award.

Kyle Burris of Wichita was recently inducted into the Wheaton College Scholastic honor Society. The honor was announced at Wheaton College's Honors Convocation. Each year, the Wheaton College faculty selects a limited number of students for membership in the Scholastic Honor Society. Selection is made on the basis of high scholarship, Christian maturity and general promise. Burris, a member of the class of 2015, was recognized for excellence in the study of mathematics and economics.

Bradley Sandlin, a senior history major from Valley Center, competed on both the cross-country and track and field teams for Goshen College during the 2014-15 school year.

Sandlin participated in cross-country in the fall of 2014. The men's team qualified for nationals for the first time in school history, finishing 27th. In track and field this spring, the Maple Leaf men finished ninth in the Crossroads League championship they hosted.

Goshen College is a nationally recognized liberal arts college in Northern Indiana known for leadership in intercultural and international education, sustainability and social justice. With approximately 900 students from 32 states and 25 countries, the college offers bachelor's degrees in more than 65 areas of study, as well as select master's degrees.

Melissa Dawn Kristek of Wichita was among about 2,900 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in ceremonies May 8 and 9. She earned a bachelor of science from the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Park City Senior Center will host a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. May 16 and will celebrate the birthdays of Margaret Wellman and Donlie Tanner. The Wildwood Band will be playing.

K-State Research and Extension will host the Sedgwick County Extension wheat variety plot tour at two locations May 20. At 7:30 a.m., they will be at Greg Neville's, located 1/2-mile south of 21st North on 247th West (Andale Road). Coffee and donuts will be provided by Andale Co-op. At 10:30 a.m., they will be at the Clearwater Coop. The Garden Plain and Clearwater co-ops will provide a grilled hamburger lunch following the tour.
