Kaden Miller of Valley Center, a student at Butler Community College, received two awards in statewide business competition.

The Kansas Business Invitational Conference held Feb. 12 at Fort Hays State University hosted 75 students in five events. Butler's participants were the only students from a two-year college. They represented Butler's chapter of Collegiate DECA, the largest student organization in the U.S. for students majoring in marketing or management.

Miller was part of a two-person team that earned second place in Business Ethics. He was one of only two people who submitted business plans for a prepared event category

These award winners are now qualified for the international conference in Orlando, Fla. More than 1,000 collegiate DECA members will compete from both two-year and four-year schools.

Miller also placed third in Business Law at the 64th Annual Phi Beta Lambda Kansas State Leadership Conference held Feb. 13 and 14 at Fort Hays State University.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is a national business-leadership organization allowing students to prepare for careers in business and business-related fields. Members attend conferences, participate in business-related competitions, serve the community and network with professionals.

These students are now qualified for the PBL National Leadership Conference, June 24 through 27 in Chicago.

Instructions will be offered to first time anglers, young and old, by experts from the Kansas Wildlife Federation and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism. Equipment will be supplied or you may bring your own.

Registered participants, regardless of age, are not required to possess a fishing license for this event. Lunch will be provided free of charge to those who pre-register by April 15.
