Valley Center High School will celebrate junior-senior prom April 11 at the school.

Theme for the event is "Arabian Nights."

Sponsor Phillip VanHorn said 350 students have signed up to attend.

"I hope they have a lot of fun and that they enjoy themselves, especially the seniors," said VCHS junior Madison Harris, who was the head of decorations on the prom committee. "… I hope they like what I've been working on since October."

Harris said the themed decorations will include camels, palm trees, lanterns and a Taj Mahal-like structure that students in wood shop classes built. The decorations will go up after school April 10.

The red carpet procession will begin at 7:30 p.m. April 11. The dance will begin at 8 p.m.

Royalty will be crowned at 10 p.m. in the balcony above the commons area.

King and queen candidates are Alyssa Kirkland, Taylor Mitchell, Olivia Voegeli, Alex Chen, Lazarus Massey and Cameron Swarts.

The dance will end at 11 p.m.
