JOHN THOMAS

John Elbert Thomas, age 82, died April 1, 2015. He worked for the City of Wichita Forestry Department and was the director of Sedgwick County Park and Public Works. He retired from the Kansas Turnpike Authority as a landscaper.

He was born March 3, 1933, in Gary, Okla.

He was preceded in death by hi father Frank Thomas, mother Iris Sampson, stepmother Mary Thomas, stepfather Buster Sampson and grandson Shawn Davis. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Lenora R. Thomas; children Mary (Gerald) Fletcher, Mustang, Okla. Elbert D. Thomas, Phoenix, and William E. Thomas, Wichita; siblings Frank of St. Louis, Arnel (Millie), Rosella, Daisy (Tommy) Cook of St. Charles, Ark., and Madge Cross of Valley Center; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was April 6 at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford.
