Valley Center city-wide garage sales this weekend By Chris Strunk Last Updated: April 09, 2015 Treasure seekers will be roaming Valley Center neighborhoods this weekend. The annual spring city-wide garage sale event is April 10 and 11. Dozens of homes have registered as official city-wide sales. The event is sponsored by the Valley Center Chamber of Commerce. The registration fees help the chamber advertise the event to attract more customers. New this year is a flea market in the parking lot of Bartel's True Value Hardware, 506 S. Meridian. Also new is the Meridian construction zone. Chamber officials are encouraging garage sale shoppers to drive carefully, especially in the neighborhoods affected by the detours. The chamber also wants shoppers to make their way into the construction zone and shop at local businesses during the day. Some will have city-wide garage sale specials and sales. Most garage sales are a way to get rid of stuff that has piled up in people's homes over the years. Some sales are being used as fundraisers for church youth groups and other causes. |
