Hutchinson Community College has announced its honor rolls for the fall 2014 semester. The following area students achieved at least a 3.5 grade point average for the semester and were named to the Vice President's Honor Roll: John Hawkinson and Tiffany Laveist of Bel Aire; Erin Abel of Kechi; Glenn Allen, Cory Moody, Elena Soto, Phylicia Stamp and Joshua Zimmerman, all of Valley Center. The following area students achieved a 4.0 grade point average for the semester and were named to the President's Honor Roll: Zachary Jacobs of Park City; Caleb Clark, Lucas May, Torre Thompson, Brittany Thorne, Noah Wuest and Michala Zimmerman, all of Valley Center. Fort Hays State University named Steven Nelson of Park City as a College of Business and Entrepreneurship Honor Scholar for the fall 2014 semester. Nelson, a senior majoring in management, earned a 4.0 grade point average during the semester. He was also named to the Dean's Honor Roll for the semester. Ryan Scott Hendricks of Kechi, a junior in mechanical engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo., has been named to the school's honor list for the fall 2014 semester. In order to be named to this list, a student must have carried a minimum of 12 hours and earned a minimum 3.2 grade point average. Molly Wierman, an English and French major from Wichita, has been named to the University of Dallas Dean's List for the fall 2014 semester for earning a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The following area students (listed by degree, major and areas of concentration) completed associate, bachelor's or graduate degrees from Fort Hays State university in the fall 2014 semester: From Bel Aire: Kersten Corinne Zauche, a master of science in instructional technology. From Valley Center: Alicyn Jacqueline Kidd, a bachelor of business administration in management. From Wichita: Gail Ann Keller-Cox, a bachelor of science in nursing, and Shanna Ann Carter, a bachelor of arts in sociology. The Sedgwick County Extension Master Gardeners and K-State Research and Extension for Sedgwick County will hold a Youth Lawn Mowing Clinic March 20 at the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center, 21st North and Ridge Road. The clinic is designed to assist youth in earning summer income by mowing lawns. Cost is $8 for advanced registration through March 13 and $10 at the door. Two sessions will be offered. The morning session will run from 9:20 to 11:30 a.m. with check-in at 9 a.m. The afternoon session will run from 1:20 to 3:30 p.m. with check-in at 1 p.m. Each session will cover lawn grasses, safe use of lawn mowers, lawn mower maintenance and obtaining a lawn-mowing job. After completion, each participant will receive an information packet, business cards and certificate. Register online at sedgwick.ksu.edu. Early registration deadline is March 13.
