Police reports

Feb. 1 — Officer Michael Gordon assisted EMS at 419 W. Main.

Feb. 1 — Officer Michael Gordon assisted Valley Center Fire Department with a report of a vehicle fire at 6 Valley Oaks Court. A citizen put oil into the vehicle's engine and missed the spout, spilling some on the manifold. The oil began to ignite and burned itself out before officers.

Feb. 1 — Officer Michael Gordon assisted EMS at 212 S. Meridian No. 11.

Feb. 1 — Officers checked a white Ford car that was parked at 6900 N. Meridian. The owner was contacted. The car shut off on the owner, who said he would move it the next day. It was not a hazard.

Feb. 1 — Officers Jason Easley, Shannon Meyer and Jeremy Manning checked for a wanted person at 128 N. Colby but the person was not home.

Feb. 1 — Officer J.C. Kirk assisted EMS at 915 N. Meadow Road.

Feb. 1 — Officer J.C. Kirk assisted EMS at 329 N. Birch.

Jan. 31 — Officer Matt Trelow responded to check a business at 641 N. Seneca. A vehicle was parked in the doctor's office. It belonged to an employee.

Jan. 31 — Officer Matt Trelow responded to a report of theft of black Nike GPS watch taken from 319 N. Dexter.

Jan. 31 — Sgt. Thomas Delgado stopped a vehicle for speeding at 300 W. Fifth. Caleb Willoughby was arrested on a charge of DUI.

Jan. 31 — Officers Virginia Crice and Marc Scribner responded to a report of domestic violence at 328 W. Third. An ex-wife refused to leave the residence when asked. She was told to leave by police, and she did.

Jan. 30 — Officer Matt Trelow took a citizen's complaint at the station, 616 E. Fifth. The citizen said the construction barrier on McLaughlin was blocking the view of traffic. City crew was notified.

Jan. 30 — Officer Matt Trelow assisted the sheriff's office at 144 S. Dexter. Officer was asked to check the residence for an individual with knowledge about a white truck. Officer contacted the residents who said their son just told them their white Dodge Ram was stolen.

Jan. 30 — Officer Matt Trelow responded to a gas drive-off at Casey's, 222 S. Meridian. A black Honda pumped 12 gallons of fuel and left south on Meridian and east on Butler. The vehicle was not located.

Jan. 30 — Officer Virginia Crice responded to a report of someone sitting on railroad tracks near Fifth and Hickory. No one was located.

Jan. 29 — Officer Matt Trelow took a report from a citizen who found a key lock box in the 200 block of East Allen.

Jan. 29 — Officer Matt Trelow assisted animal control at 619 W. Main. Officer shot a skunk that was trapped by animal control.

Jan. 29 — Office Matt Trelow assisted EMS at 222 N. Birch.

Jan. 29 — Officer Matt Trelow responded to the station, 616 E. Fifth, where a citizen reported finding a Kansas license plate near the 1800 block of West. The plate came back as a stolen.

Jan. 29 — Sgt. Thomas Delgado and Officer Matt Trelow assisted Bentley police at 113 S. Berkshire. A subject attempted to run from officers. Another subject was found in a residence and both had warrants. One was transported by Bentley officers and the other by Delgado to the Sedgwick County Jail.

Jan. 28 — Officers Michael Gordon and Matt Trelow assisted Officer Allen Adams with finding a white van that was possibly involved in a hit-and-run at the high school, 9600 N. Meridian. The report ended up being false.

Jan. 28 — Officer Michael Gordon responded to a report of disorderly conduct at Kwik Shop, 110 E. Fifth. A citizen reported to a cashier that there were people that were "not being friendly with their fists" in the parking lot of the business. The vehicle involved was gold Chrysler PT Cruiser and the reporting party gave a tag number that did not match the vehicle. The cashier reported it to police about 20 minutes later. The store did not have any contact information for the customer who reported the incident. Officer viewed the store's surveillance video and could not find people fighting in the parking lot, even though the PT Cruiser was observed at the gas pumps about the time that it was reported to have occurred. Officer contacted a Haysville officer to check the residence that the tag belonged to. Haysville officer did not locate the vehicle at the residence and no contact was made.

Jan. 28 — Officer Jeremy Manning responded to a report of criminal use of a financial card at the station, 616 E. Fifth. This occurred over a period of weeks from an unknown suspect. The victim noticed charges on his bank account from several different places he didn't make purchases.

Jan. 28 — Officers Jason Easley and Jeremy Manning arrested John Hart on a charge of violation of a court order.

Jan. 27 — Officers Jason Easley and Shannon Meyer responded to a wreck in the 1100 block of South Meridian. A silver GMC Acadia traveled north in the inside lane of Meridian. A City of Valley Center work vehicle was stationary in the northbound outside lane on Meridian. The driver of the Acadia looked away from the road for a moment to check on his kid in the backseat and drifted out of his lane and into the outside northbound lane. The Acadia struck the rear of the stationary Valley Center work vehicle, which was occupied by a city worker. A witness stated that the flashing orange light on top of the city vehicle was operating at the time of the accident. A ticket was issued for inattentive driving.

Jan. 27 — Officers Jason Easley and Shannon Meyer responded to 123 S. Colby No. 9. The reporting party said he did not get his daughter as promised by his ex-wife. He also believed his daughter was in danger. Officer spoke with the ex-wife and there is no court paperwork. The daughter was OK.

Jan. 26 — Officer Michael Gordon assisted the sheriff's office with checking for hunters at 81st North and 55th West. They were not located.

Jan. 26 — Officer J.C. Kirk assisted Park City police at 928 E. 61st North. There was a dispute between a man and his ex-girlfriend who had a child together. She made him mad and he changed his mind about driving her back home to Salina. They stopped on 61st so she could use the restroom and call police because she was mad that he wasn't giving her a ride home. No evidence of a crime was found.

Jan. 27 — 820 N. Emporia, permit.

Jan. 27 — 1120 S. Meridian, vehicle accident, person injured.
