The Valley Center High School wrestling team dominated the Concordia Dual Tournament Jan. 30 and 31.

The Hornets handily defeated Chapman, Beloit, Minneapolis and Concordia.

Valley Center's 106-pounder, Carter Nold, was 3-1.

Michael Turkali went 4-0 at 113 pounds with three pins and a major decision.

Ryan Delforge also was undefeated, winning two 126- pound matches by fall and one by tech fall.

Don Boone went 4-0 at 145, with three pins and a tech fall.

Jace Boone was undefeated at 152. The senior pinned all four of his opponents.

Caleb Karlowski was undefeated at 182 and 195. He recorded a decision and a pin at 182 and then wrestled up for a pin against Concordia.

Adam Hess was undefeated at 220 pounds, winning two decisions.

Cory Sibley went 3-1 at 285 pounds.

Valley Center fell to Ark City in an Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League II dual Jan. 29 on the road.

Turkali got a pin at 113 pounds to give Valley Center an early but short-lived edge. Ark City countered with three straight wins, including a major decision at 120.

Tyler Boone stopped the bleeding with a 9-1 major decision over Saul Garcia.

Trailing 24-10, Sam Weldon scored a decision at 160 pounds and Peyton Stoffel got a pin at 170 to edge closer in team points.

However, Karlowski was the only Hornet to pick up points in the final four weights.

Valley Center has two more Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League II duals remaining — Feb. 5 at home against Eisenhower on senior night and Feb. 7 at Maize South.

The Hornets also will compete at the Rose Hill tournament Feb. 6 and 7, its final tournament action until 5A regionals.
