A Valley Center public works employee was taken to the hospital for evaluation after the city truck he was in was struck from behind by another vehicle in the 1100 block of South Meridian Jan. 27.

Police said the truck was parked in the right lane of the northbound side of Meridian as the employee was locating utility lines in the area. A northbound silver GMC in the left lane drifted to the right and hit the truck.

The driver of the GMC, who was cited for inattentive driving and no proof of insurance, and a child passenger were not hurt. The city employee was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The wreck happened about 4:15 p.m.
