Vera V. Vogts, 88, of rural Madison, died Jan. 17, 2015.

She was born, June 1, 1926, near Zenda to Henry and Edna (Hensiek) Westerman and married Ernest Vogts June 6, 1948, in Madison. She attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia. She taught elementary school at Hartford elementary schools and District No. 88 and worked at Iowa Beef for 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, one sister, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Survivors include daughters Karen (Ted) Boettcher of Wichita, Janette (Robert) Keinath of Millinton, Mich., and Marilyn (Frank) Miller of Valley Center; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service was Jan. 21 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia, with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Olpe. Memorials to the Vera Vogts Scholarship Fund, in care of Messiah Lutheran Church.
