Valley Center police and fire reports Last Updated: January 22, 2015 Police reports Jan. 18 Officers responded to a car fire in the 9800 block of North 71st West. A man wearing a mask stood near the burning vehicle. Officers told the man to get away from the vehicle, but he refused. Believing the man was suicidal and wanted to be killed by an officer, SWAT was called out. Before SWAT arrived, the man surrendered to Officer Michael Gordon and sheriff's deputies. The man said he was hoping the vehicle's gas tank would blow up and kill him. The man was taken to St. Joseph hospital for evaluation. Jan. 18 Officer Michael Gordon responded to an unknown call for police at 633 N. Meridian. Two brothers were in an argument. Jan. 17 Officer Matt Trelow responded to 7312 W. 73rd North for a welfare check. He was disregarded before arrival. Jan. 17 Officer Matt Trelow responded to Lions Park for a welfare check. A woman fell in the park and appeared to be having a seizure. Officer was unable to contact the patient. Jan. 17 Officers Eric Leeker and Shannon Meyer conducted follow-up work at 724 Fieldstone. Jan. 17 Officers Eric Leeker and Shannon Meyer stood by to prevent a disturbance at 7129 N. Interurban. A father wanted his vehicle back from his daughter. The father was the registered owner. Jan. 17 Officer Eric Leeker responded to a report of a cow at-large south of Fifth between Meridian and Broadway. Officer was unable to find the cow. Jan. 16 Officer Matt Trelow responded to a non-injury accident at Main and Meridian. A semi turned south on Meridian from West Main and a car turned in the same direction and was hit by the semi. The driver of the car was cited for inattentive driving. Jan. 16 Officer Matt Trelow took a report at the station. Two citizens reported that a protection-from-abuse order needed to be served. The address on the order was in Wichita, but the individual lives in Valley Center. The two citizens did not know the address. Jan. 16 Officers Eric Leeker and Virginia Crice and Sgt. Thomas Delgado conducted a club check twice at Spirit's Pub, 231 E. Main. Everything appeared to be fine. Jan. 16 Officer Eric Leeker found a dog wandering the streets at Third and Meridian. Officer was unable to catch the dog, which did not appear to be injured or vicious. Jan. 16 Officer Eric Leeker conducted nine traffic stops during the second shift. No criminal activity was found. Jan. 16 Officer Virginia Crice arrested Megan Wagner at 909 Meadow. Wagner is accused of entering the home and assaulting a resident. Jan. 15 Officer Matt Trelow took a report at the station from a citizen who received a message saying he or she owned money to the IRS. The citizen called the IRS. It was a scam. Jan. 15 Sgt. Matt Vogt responded to a report of a lost juvenile at 409 Meeds. A boy had not returned from a friend's house. He returned while officer was taking a report. He was educated on the importance of giving parents information on where he should be. Jan. 15 A hit-and-run wreck was reported in the parking lot of 301 E. Main. A man reported that his vehicle may have been hit on Jan. 8. It also may have been hit in the parking lot of his work in Newton that day. Jan. 14 Sgt. Lloyd Newman and Officer Matt Trelow attended district court in Wichita. Jan. 14 Officers assisted EMS with a person who was sick at 319 S. Abilene. Officers were disregarded by the fire department. Jan. 14 Officers assisted a citizen with fingerprints at the station. Jan. 14 Officers picked up evidence that was tested and dropped off new evidence for testing at the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center. Jan. 14 Officers assisted EMS with a female who quit breathing at 107 N. Meridian. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Jan. 14 Officers took a report from a teenager at 23 Hawthorne who said her mother was mean. Officer checked for signs of abuse and couldn't find any. Jan. 13 Officer Michael Gordon assisted a motorist who broke down in traffic in the 600 block of North Meridian. Officer pushed the vehicle out of traffic. Jan. 13 Officers responded to 400 S. Eastridge. A person reported that two men were taking things from the vacant house. Officers discovered that the house was foreclosed and the two men were working on it. Jan. 13 Officers responded to a disturbance at 107 N. Meridian. A woman said she and her roommate got into an argument and he threw a piece of furniture. The roommate left the residence to calm down. Jan. 13 Officer J.C. Kirk stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Jan. 12 Officer Michael Gordon assisted investigations by following up with the victim of a domestic violence case at the station. Jan. 12 Officer Shannon Meyer assisted the sheriff's office with a general alarm at 5615 W. Solar Valley. The alarm was false. Jan. 12 Officer Shannon Meyer assisted EMS at 131 S. Colby, Apt. 68. A man was taken to the hospital. Fire calls Jan. 18 448 N. Sheridan, carbon-monoxide alarm. Jan. 18 101st North and 71st West, car fire. Jan. 17 Allen and Colby, assist EMS. Jan. 17 7453 W. 73rd North, grass fire. Jan. 16 1020 Meadowlake Circle, burn permit. Jan. 16 1502 W. 101st North, brush fire. Jan. 14 8 Weatherly Court, assist EMS. Jan. 14 107 N.
