Deadline for election candidates approaches

The deadline to register as a candidate for local school board and city elections is noon Jan. 27. As of Jan. 13, a few people have filed as candidates.

In Valley Center, Laurie Dove has filed to run for mayor. The mayor's seat and four council positions are up for election.

In Park City, Jim Schroeder has filed for a Ward 1 council seat. Four council seats are up for election.

Rhonda Price has filed for re-election to the Valley Center school board. Four at-large seats are up for election.

In Bel Aire, Jeanette Clement is the lone candidate to have filed for a city council seat. Two council seats and the mayor's seat are up for election.

No one has filed as a candidate in Kechi, where three at-large seats are up for election.

A primary election, if necessary, will be March 3. The general election will be April 7.
